Club Bylaws

In order to establish a VHF repeater system which will enhance the capability of radio amateurs to provide communications in the public interest, further the technical capabilities of the members, and interest and entice non amateurs into the ranks of amateur radio operators, the following by-laws are adopted by charter members.

1. It is the intent of the membership to abide by the rules and regulations of the Federal Communications Commission. 

2. The name of the organization shall be, SOUTHWEST MISSISSIPPI AMATEUR RADIO CLUB. (SMARC) 

3. A president, a treasurer, and a secretary shall be elected by simple majority of the membership for a one year term.

4. The election shall be held on the first Thursday in January of each year. 

5. The president shall appoint the vice-president and any committees deemed necessary by him or the club members to meet the objectives of the club.

6. The secretary shall handle correspondence and keep a record of the club meetings.  

7. The treasurer shall collect dues and make disbursements for the legitimate obligations of the organization.  

8. Any officer may be removed from office by a two-thirds majority of the membership.  

9. Monthly dues will be determined by a simple majority of the membership present at a regular meeting where a quorum consisting of one-third of the total membership is present.  

10. Temporary assessments may be levied by a quorum at either a regular meeting or a called meeting.  

11. A member may be expelled or suspended from the club for non-payment of dues or on the air conduct not becoming of an amateur radio operator.  

12. Regular meetings will be held monthly at a date and time approved by a simple majority of the membership.  

13.Special meetings may be called by any elected officer or at the request of at least three members.  The instigators of a special meeting must inform the full membership at least twenty-four hours in advance of the meeting.  

14. Amendments, deletions, or additions to the by-laws may be made by a two-thirds majority of the membership.

1) Three-fourths majority for amendments
2) Ownership of SMARC equipment
3) Reinstatement of charter members
4) Membership dues
